Head Scratching

Tips from the ForeGolf Workshop

We often get the odd driver in our workshop that have seen better days and even with a carefully placed head-cover there is always the chance of some scuffing of the paintwork.

A simple thing to do especially good for scuffing is to get yourself some T-Cut or even better car paint polishing compound from your nearest motor factors. You might even have some in the garage.

With a slightly damp cloth apply the compound and give it a good hard rub into the painted top of the club-head. We find rubbing in circular motions with just two fingers covering the cloth works best. Rub for about 30-40 seconds, leave to dry for another 60 seconds until the compound goes white and is dry to touch and with a clean soft cloth buff polish it to a brilliant shine. Next get some Mr. Sheen furniture polish and spray onto a clean cloth and rub the shaft up and down. You will be amazed at the shine it gives graphite and steel and it will protect it also.

If you’re in any doubt drop the driver into us here at the workshop and we will be glad to do it for you, you might even stick a new grip on it and then you have yourself a new club, well nearly new.

Custom Fitted Shoes by Footjoy

As you all know we are into our clubs but Dave Williams here in the office has a real thing for shoes. He wanted the ultimate pair of shoes customized to his exact design requirements. Now the fact that he is a Sunderland FC supporter and is known here as Mackum, which is the nickname for a Sunderland fella, he decided he wanted a red and white pair of shoes with “Hackin” on one shoe and “Mackum” on the other shoe. Not an easy task given that his requirements were quite descript and thankfully Footjoy came to the rescue.

Footjoy have a new subsidiary called My-Joys which allows you to design your own shoes. By logging onto the website and filling in the details of colour, design, names or initials and even symbols such as shamrocks or dice. You simply fill in the sizes for each shoe and print it off, take it to your nearest Footjoy stockist, in our case us and the shoes are delivered inside 4 weeks.

You can design your shoes at www.footjoy.co.uk with their easy step by step process. We can order your custom made shoes for you if bring or email us your design details.

Need help choosing the best golf ball ?

Our custom fitting programme is an ever developing process and it is only through time and meeting different golfers that we hone it and change it to suit the needs of our customers.
Currently the most asked question from our customers is the relevancy of the ball in relation to their new clubs. It makes sense that if the driver and irons have been built to suit a certain spin rate of height then the ball must be rated as a contributing factor.

In short the ball is very important when fitting the club as this is the part of our process when we try to manipulate through the club build. So, we took the information from the main golf ball companies of Titleist,Taylor Made and Nike, some information from our own personal experiences with the different balls, some data from our launch monitor and compressed it all into a readable format that we have displayed in our workshop reception.

If you want to find out what ball suits you most drop by and see for yourself or book in for a ball testing session to find out what golf ball fits you and your clubs. We will be adding more brands to this service over the coming months.
