FST Shafts

A steel shaft maker in the USA called Femco recently brought out a range of shafts on tour that has consistently won more than three times this season. We tested the product back in June of this year and it will be available from ForeGolf in 2009. During our testing, we found the shaft to be unbelievably consistent through ball flight and with its positive feel and feedback through the shaft, we believe it will prove to be very popular.

True Temper Black Gold Shaft

This shaft from True Temper is by no means new, in fact ForeGolf have been using it for the past 18 months. The recent acquisition of Rifle Shafts by True Temper highlighted how much better Black Gold was over Project X. The Black Gold has come out the most consistent performing shaft currently available in steel.

A new Grafalloy Prototype Shaft in the making

The word on tour is that Grafalloy are working on a number of new shafts for next season and one that is getting the most play at the moment is their X-7A3 Graphite shaft. At the moment True Temper are keeping their cards close to their chest and are not releasing any information but you can rest assured that when the news breaks .... ForeGolf will have it first. I suspect given that Padraig Harrington is still using the Grafalloy ProLite 35-S which is 12 years old in his driver, that there are moves afoot to ramp up the performance of this old but popular shaft

Aldila Voodoo Shafts Update

Following on from our report in June of this year at The Irish Open

At last Voodoo is set to be launched on Halloween Night; the word from the top is that the spiralling construction technique or S-CORE technology will be rolled out across the full Aldila range. It has been found that this new internal process drastically reduces ovaling in the shaft which creates a more stable shaft construction. It looks at though Aldila will be the dominate force in golf shaft technology for all of 2009 and ForeGolf have signed a new agreement to stock all their shafts in the coming 2009 season.

Dave Pelz Short Game School Update

Dave Pelz Short Game School, Killeen Castle, Co Meath

Derek visited the Dave Pelz Short Game School in July and took part in full days Short Game Analysis. The venue itself is outstanding and has the best short game facilities in the country. The two teaching professionals are Jussi Pitkanen and Conor Devery who are very well rehearsed and delivered Mr Pelz's unique philosophy with enthusiasm. The day is split into two modules a classroom and a practical, which gives you the opportunity to understand the theory and then put it into practise on the day. Derek found the putting section of the day particularly useful and he has already put that into practise with good results. He would definitely recommend the course to mid to high handicappers.

The course Derek took part in was the One Day Short Game School.
